Youth worker
Millie
"I became a youth worker after realising how much I love helping young people achieve their goals and dreams, and how important it is for them to have positive role models who can encourage them in their identity, and help them realise how wonderful they are despite the challenges they may face. When a young person understands how unique and important they are in the world, they are unstoppable in whatever they decide to do!
The Be Heard drop-ins allow young people to enter a safe, welcoming space that's not associated with school, or home environments; where they can be themselves without fear of judgement or prejudice. Our informal service means any young person can come and share their struggles and wins in a community setting, learn how to overcome challenges in their lives, and have fun at the same time. We're here to understand, listen, have fun, and champion you - no matter what!
There's no pressure or expectation for any young person who comes to the drop-in to share what's on their mind, or even take part in our activities. We're simply here for you. If you're nervous, come and find me - I'm more than happy to give you more information or chat with you before you arrive to see if we are the right space for you. If you're worried about joining in for the first time, feel reassured that we are here to cater to you and your needs, not ours!"
